OneForm vs Typeform for Accountants: Why CPA Firms Switch

OneForm turns each client response into an AI-drafted report your team approves before it's sent; Typeform, Jotform and Google Forms collect answers well but don't list that step.

OneForm vs Typeform for Accountants: Why CPA Firms Switch
On this page

For most CPA firms, OneForm is the better fit than Typeform because the work starts after a client hits submit. OneForm turns each response into an AI-drafted report or document that your team reviews and approves before it goes out as a branded PDF. Typeform is a polished general form builder with strong design and integrations. Jotform and Google Forms suit broader, simpler form needs.

We make OneForm, one of the tools in this comparison. We've tried to be fair: every competitor detail below comes from the vendor's own pricing, product or help pages, checked in October 2026, and each tool's section says who it's best for.

Try OneForm free. Start from one of ten ready-made tax checkups, keep the one-question-at-a-time feel your clients like in Typeform, and get a drafted report from every response to review before it's sent. Start free, no card needed.

Key takeaways

  • OneForm is built for accounting firms: each response can become an advisory report, engagement letter, proposal, tax organizer or document request, drafted by AI and approved by a person before it is sent as a branded PDF.
  • Typeform, Jotform and Google Forms collect answers well, but none of their pages we checked lists a written report drafted from each response.
  • As of October 2026, Typeform's Free plan allows 10 responses a month and its Basic plan costs $28 a month billed yearly for 100 responses. OneForm's Free Forever plan allows 50 responses a month, and Basic is $19 a month for 300.
  • OneForm includes paid reports, paid consultations and booking pages on every plan, Free Forever included, through the firm's own Stripe account. OneForm takes no cut.
  • OneForm is newer and narrower: fewer templates and integrations, no e-signatures, no file uploads, and it is not a document portal or practice-management tool. It sits alongside TaxDome, Karbon or Canopy.

Prices are in US dollars from each vendor's own pages in October 2026. Typeform says in its help center that it sometimes experiments with pricing, so the plan you see in your account can differ.

Why do accountants outgrow general form builders?

A general form builder is a tool for collecting answers from anyone, for any purpose: sign-ups, feedback, applications, quizzes. It does that job well. For a firm, though, the answers are raw material. Someone still has to read them, decide what they mean for this client, and write something back.

That gap is where the hours go: copying answers into a document, drafting a summary of opportunities, formatting it, emailing it and booking a follow-up. Good advice starts with good questions, but a firm moving from compliance to proactive tax planning also needs the step after the questions: a clear written answer the client can act on.

A note from Brian Davis, CPA, CFE, OneForm's founder

I've spent my career in accounting, at firms of different sizes. In 2017 I started my own firm, and it grew into a virtual accounting firm with a team. Along the way I found myself piecing together different tools: building forms in one app, connecting them to another, adding automation tools, and handling the parts in between by hand. I have spent days building questionnaires and configuring conditional logic to get the experience I wanted. I'm still a practicing accountant, and OneForm is built around the work that comes after the form.

What does OneForm do after a client hits submit?

OneForm's short version is "Forms in. Reports out." Each response can produce a draft written by OneFormAI from your firm's own instructions. The draft can be an advisory report or one of 12 document types: engagement letter, proposal, invoice, bill, checklist, task list, tax organizer, document request, onboarding packet, memo, scope of work and HR record. See how reports work.

Nothing reaches a client until someone on your team approves it, unless the firm turns on auto-send (Pro and Firm). Here is the default flow:

  1. The client answers one question at a time, on a phone or a computer, with only the questions that apply to them.
  2. OneFormAI drafts the report or document, with the client's answers shown beside the draft.
  3. A reviewer edits it, or re-drafts it with a note, then approves it.
  4. OneForm emails it as a letter-size PDF with your logo and colors, now or on a schedule (Basic and up).
  5. You see when the email is delivered, opened and clicked, and the client can book a call from the report.

The first conversation sets up everything that follows, and walking into it with a reviewed, written summary of the client's situation changes the tone of the meeting.

Ten tax checkups with the report built in

OneForm ships with ten ready-made tax checkups, each with its report instructions already written: Tax Opportunity Report, Business Owner Tax Checkup, S Corporation Tax Checkup, Should I Be an S Corporation?, Real Estate Investor Tax Checkup, Short-Term Rental Tax Checkup, Year-End Tax Planning Checkup, Retirement & Roth Tax Checkup, Investment & Capital Gains Tax Checkup, and Family, Children & Education Tax Checkup. Browse them in the template gallery. To write your own, see our tax planning questionnaire guide.

Build from a sentence or from the organizer you use today

Describe a form in one sentence and OneFormAI writes the questions, logic and report. Or attach the PDF, Word or Excel organizer you already send, or a screenshot or photo of it, and OneForm rebuilds it as a one-question-at-a-time form. Logic includes show-if rules, jumps, scores and multiple endings.

How does Typeform compare for a CPA firm?

Typeform is a well-designed form builder known for its conversational, one-question-at-a-time layout, which makes a short prospect questionnaire feel considered rather than bureaucratic. That strength is real, and OneForm uses the same one-question-per-screen format.

What stands out

  • Design flexibility, templates and unlimited typeforms on the Free plan, per its Free plan help page.
  • Logic, including branching, calculations, scores and variables, plus multiple endings, on every plan.
  • Typeform AI creates and edits forms from a prompt; adding files to it is a paid feature.
  • Integrations listed on its pricing page include Google Sheets, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Slack, Airtable and Salesforce, with 500+ more services through Zapier.
  • Paid plans add payment, file upload and signature questions, partial responses, follow-up emails and automated lead scoring.

Things to know for a firm

  • The Free plan collects 10 responses a month across all forms. Basic includes 100 a month and 1 user; Plus raises that to 1,000 responses and 3 users.
  • Typeform's help center describes printing a single response and saving it as a PDF. Writing the advice is still your job.

We cover OneForm as a Typeform replacement in more detail on our Typeform alternative page, and the wider field in the best Typeform alternatives.

Where do Jotform and Google Forms fit?

Jotform is the broadest of the three general builders. Its template gallery lists 20,000+ form templates, including a Tax Forms category. Jotform Sign collects e-signatures on free and paid plans, its payments page names PayPal, Square and Stripe among 30+ gateways with no additional Jotform transaction fees, and its PDF documents can be attached to notification and autoresponder emails automatically. Card Forms show one question at a time. Its pricing page lists Starter through Gold as single-user plans.

Google Forms is the simplest option if your firm already works in Google Workspace. Its product page describes premade templates, logic that shows questions based on earlier answers, quizzes, automatic charts and export to Google Sheets. Google's Forms page doesn't state a price; Forms is listed among the apps included in Google Workspace.

Jotform's PDF holds the submitted answers; neither tool lists a written analysis drafted from them for a reviewer to approve.

Can a form builder help a firm sell tax planning?

This is where OneForm is built differently. A checkup on your website can end with an offer, not just a thank-you:

  • Paid reports: put a price on the report and the client pays on the thank-you screen with Stripe. Sales go to the firm's own Stripe account and OneForm takes no cut; Stripe charges its standard processing fee. This works on every plan, Free Forever included.
  • Paid consultations: booking pages can charge for a call, with the time held while the client pays and automatic refunds for early cancellations.
  • Booking pages: OneForm's own scheduler shows open times after any form, with Google Calendar sync and Google Meet links, or you can show Calendly or Cal.com instead.
  • Lead scoring: one row per person across forms, with an explainable 0 to 100 score from their answers and engagement, hot-lead alerts and exports on Pro and up.

For the pricing and positioning side of advisory work, see OneForm for accounting firms.

Where is OneForm narrower than Typeform?

OneForm is newer and more focused, and some jobs belong elsewhere:

  • Fewer templates and integrations. Typeform and Jotform offer much larger template galleries (Jotform lists 20,000+) and app directories. OneForm's integrations include Google Sheets, Google Drive and Slack (in beta), Google Chat and Google Calendar, CRM sync to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce and Zoho (also beta), and webhooks.
  • No e-signatures or file uploads. Typeform offers signature and file upload questions on paid plans, and Jotform has Jotform Sign. OneForm has neither yet.
  • No payments inside the form. OneForm charges for the report or call after the form.
  • Not a portal or practice-management tool. OneForm doesn't store client documents, track time or bill engagements. It sits in front of TaxDome, Karbon or Canopy, and it can export leads as a CSV in the format TaxDome's client import expects.

Our comparison of client intake software for accounting firms covers how those suites handle portals, organizers and signatures.

How much do OneForm and Typeform cost for a firm?

Both price by plan with monthly response limits. Figures are from OneForm's pricing page and the plan cards on Typeform's pricing page as of October 2026; Typeform's comparison table lower on that page shows lower figures, so check before buying.

Who should pick Typeform, and who should pick OneForm?

Frequently asked questions

Is Typeform good for accountants?

Typeform is a good choice for short, well-designed prospect questionnaires and lead forms. As of October 2026 its Free plan allows 10 responses a month, and paid plans add payment, signature and file upload questions. It doesn't draft a written report from each response, so firms that want client-ready advice from the answers usually still write it by hand or add another tool.

What is the best form builder for CPA firms?

It depends on what happens after submit. If you want each answer set turned into a reviewed report, engagement letter, proposal or document request, OneForm is built for that. If you need e-signatures, payments and file uploads across many form types, Jotform covers more ground. Typeform suits design-led lead forms, and Google Forms suits simple internal surveys.

Does Typeform create a PDF report from each response?

Not as a written report. Typeform's help center describes printing a single response and saving it as a PDF, and paid plans can download a Response summary as a PDF. That PDF contains the answers, not an analysis. OneForm drafts a report from each response using your firm's instructions, and a reviewer approves it before it is emailed as a branded PDF.

Can OneForm replace TaxDome, Karbon or Canopy?

No. OneForm isn't a client portal or practice-management tool: it doesn't store documents, collect e-signatures, track time or bill engagements. It works in front of those systems, handling the questionnaire, the drafted report and the booked call. Leads can be exported as a CSV in the format TaxDome's client import expects, and webhooks can send responses to other systems.

How much does OneForm cost compared with Typeform?

As of October 2026, OneForm's Free Forever plan includes 50 responses a month, and Basic is $19 a month for 300 responses. Typeform's Free plan includes 10 responses a month, and Basic is $28 a month billed yearly or $39 billed monthly for 100 responses. OneForm's Pro is $49 a month for 1,500 responses and 3 team members.

Can I move my Typeform forms to OneForm?

Yes, though forms are rebuilt rather than imported directly. Take a screenshot or PDF of your Typeform and OneFormAI rebuilds the questions and logic from it, or describe the form in one sentence. Export your Typeform responses first, test the new form and its report, then switch the link or embed on your website.
